Cut-Out Sugar Cookies
These roll out lemon sugar cookies are sweet and buttery, with a strong, but not overwhelming lemon flavor.
Beat butter and sugar on high with an electric mixer until well combined.
Add egg and lemon extract and beat on medium until smooth.
Slowly incorporate dry ingredients about 1/4 cup at a time and beat on low until combined.
.Add lemon zest at 1 tsp of milk and beat on high for 20-30 seconds. If the dough is still dry, continue to add 1 tsp of milk at a time.
.Roll out cookie dough to 1/4" thickness between two sheets of wax paper. Cut out shapes and place on lined cookie sheet.
.Bake cookies at 350 degrees for 8-10 minutes. Let cool on cookie sheet for 5 minute before transferring to cooling rack.
Decorate or drizzle with icing, serve, and enjoy!
