Sprinkle Soft and Chewy Sugar Cookies

These sugar cookies are soft with a slightly chewy texture. Cover them in sprinkles and enjoy!

STEP 1: Beat butter, shortening, granulated sugar, and powdered sugar on high speed for 60-90 seconds.

STEP 2: Add eggs and vanilla extract to butter mixture. Beat on low until just incorporated.

STEP 3: In a separate bowl, whisk together flour, cream of tartar, and baking soda.

STEP 4: Add half of the dry ingredients and beat on medium. Add the second half and continue beating until just combined. .

STEP 5: Make 2 tsp sized balls of dough and roll in sprinkles of your choice. Place cookie dough balls on cookie sheet.

STEP 6: Using a glass (or something with a flat base), press down cookies to about 1/4" thickness.

STEP 7: Bake at 350 degrees for 10-12 minutes.

STEP 8: Let cool on baking sheet for at least 5 minutes before transferring to a cooling rack.
