Sprinkle Soft and Chewy Sugar Cookies
These sugar cookies are soft with a slightly chewy texture. Cover them in sprinkles and enjoy!
Beat butter, shortening, granulated sugar, and powdered sugar on high speed for 60-90 seconds.
Add eggs and vanilla extract to butter mixture. Beat on low until just incorporated.
In a separate bowl, whisk together flour, cream of tartar, and baking soda.
Add half of the dry ingredients and beat on medium. Add the second half and continue beating until just combined. .
Make 2 tsp sized balls of dough and roll in sprinkles of your choice. Place cookie dough balls on cookie sheet.
Using a glass (or something with a flat base), press down cookies to about 1/4" thickness.
Bake at 350 degrees for 10-12 minutes.
Let cool on baking sheet for at least 5 minutes before transferring to a cooling rack.
