Pumpkin Sugar Cookies for Halloween

These cut out cookie are soft and buttery. Decorate them with royal icing for the cutest pumpkins for Halloween!

STEP 1: Bake sugar cookies using your favorite cut-out recipe - or try my go-to recipe at the link below!

STEP 2: Make Royal Icing - full recipe in link below.  You will need Orange in detail and flood consistency and black detail consistency icing.

STEP 3: Use the detail consistency orange icing and outline the full cookie except for the stem.

STEP 4: Use the detail consistency orange icing, add to lines down the center, leaving enough space for the pumpkin's face.

STEP 5: Use the flood consistency orange icing, fill in the center section and let dry for at least 10-15 minutes until it is dry to a light touch.

STEP 6: Use the flood consistency orange icing, fill in the outside sections. Allow the icing to dry completely for at least 8 hours, up to overnight.

STEP 7: With a thin tip edible marker, draw the eyes, eyebrows, and smile.

STEP 8: Mix pink luster dust with a few drops of water. Use a food-safe brush to make circles for the rosy cheeks.

STEP 9 : Use the black icing to fill in the stem of the pumpkin.
